X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 107/119m
Director: Gavin Hood
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Live Schreiber, Danny Huston

Synopsis:

US armed forces exploit James Logan, aka The Wolverine, and his brother Victor to clean up in over a century of international conflicts, whereupon a rogue General uses them to head up a lethal team of mutants for his own nefarious purposes. Logan walks out and takes up an anonymous existence in the Canadian Rockies, but General Stryker is not far behind.

Review:

Preposterous comic book hokum, with a title sequence which alone must have cost thousands of man hours, though it is the green screen-free shots of the American North-West that afford the most pleasure. None of it makes much sense if you have not read the comics, and much of the dialogue is unintelligible. One imagines the studios will go on milking this particular cash cow for as long as there are obscure byways to be explored, at which point they will be free to invent new ones.
