World War Z (2013)

£0.00

Country: US/Malta
Technical: col/2.35:1 116/123m
Director: Marc Forster
Cast: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz

Synopsis:

As an unknown virus sweeping the globe threatens to turn all humanity into swarms of zombies, a UN former special ops expert is despatched with a fact-finding team to attempt to discover the source.

Review:

Much maligned filming of an allegedly far more effective book, with cutting-edge special effects for its disaster footage and CG extras hurling themselves off buildings in their urge to infect (these zombies are of the 28 Days Later fleet-footed breed). Ironically, it is in the more conventionally suspenseful sequences in a tower block and a WHO research facility that the film scores best, though it makes its very topical points about pathogenic threats well and is pretty edge-of-seat stuff the whole way through.
