A deeply anti-racist film which was misunderstood, largely by people who hadn't seen it (no doubt because of the synopsis and the fact that Fuller, not noted for a dispassionate, low key approach, was involved). The dog footage is remarkable and Winfield's performance and Morricone's score add to the power of this unusual moral thriller.
