Where Is Anne Frank (2021)

£0.00

Country: BEL/LUX/FR/NL/ISR
Technical: col 99m
Director: Ari Folman
Cast: Voice cast: Emily Carey, Ruby Stokes, Ralph Prosser

Synopsis:

The spirit of Anne's imaginary friend escapes from the museum with her diary, and begins to unpick the truth of what became of the Frank family.

Review:

Apparently only certain territories merited a question mark in the title... After flitting about through a magic realist Amsterdam, Folman's proxy heroine finally gets down to business and utters a heartfelt appeal on behalf of refugees present. The flashbacks to Anne's incarceration seem tokenistic, but the film takes care not to tread too familiar ground and the animation achieves heights of symbolic power reminiscent of Waltz with Bashir.
