The World's Fastest Indian (2005)

£0.00

Country: NZ/JAP/SW/US
Technical: col/scope 127m
Director: Roger Donaldson
Cast: Anthony Hopkins, Diane Ladd, Aaron Murphy, Iain Rea

Synopsis:

A plucky New Zealand owner of a Springfield Indian motorcycle overcomes many obstacles and turns many a casual acquaintance into a friend as he fulfils a lifetime dream of testing his vehicle's capabilities at the Bonneville salt flats in California.

Review:

An apparently true story with irresistible charm in spite of all its faults: a dodgy accent from its lead, some props that look all too visibly like museum pieces and the fact that everybody is so nice. But the rest of Hopkins's performance as the loveable eccentric is a bullseye, and it's a role that clearly has personal resonance for him, and he and the eponymous bike steal the movie while the supporting cast basks and beams in the reflected glory.
