The Wolverine (2013)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 126m
Director: James Mangold
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Famke Janssen

Synopsis:

Logan is sought out by the dying Japanese industrialist he once saved from the Nagasaki bomb, who wants to relieve him of his irksome immortality. However, he is caught up in a plot to assassinate the latter's grand-daughter, and decides there are things worth living - and fighting - for.

Review:

Tolerable solo effort for the Marvel hero of the X-Men franchise. Jackman keeps the gravitas to the fore most of the time, even if he comes dangerously close to parodying Clint Eastwood on occasion. The oriental setting - and cast - is the principal interest, however, and there are the expected outbursts of chop-socky, plus one absurd set piece on the roof of a speeding bullet train. Time-passing hokum, no more.
