The Wolfman (2010)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 103m
Director: Joe Johnston
Cast: Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, Art Malik, Geraldine Chaplin

Synopsis:

Victorian England: an actor journeys to his stricken family's estate to attend the funeral of his brother, killed in sinister circumstances, and determines to find out what happened to him. His investigations merely, however, lead to his being bitten by a werewolf and perpetuating the family curse.

Review:

Reasonably faithful and ungimmicky remake of the Lon Chaney Jr original, down to the wolf makeup, but with accelerated action sequences and full-blooded dismemberments and eviscerations. Despite lavish production values the story fails to ignite, possibly due to a miscast lead/co-producer.
