£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/bw 102m
Director: Victor Fleming
Cast: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Margaret Hamilton

Synopsis:

A girl living on a depression era farm in Kansas with her aunt and uncle is knocked unconscious when a tornado hits and dreams of all the characters in her life transposed to a magical land inhabited by Munchkins, a talking scarecrow, lion and tinman, and witches both good and wicked.

Review:

Classic family film with the best MGM production values imaginable and a magical performance at its centre which breaks the heart all the more with the passing years. Something of an American version of an old European fairytale, with bookends underlining the fantasy of the colour section and three good old tunes oft repeated.
