Vanishing Point (1971)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 107m
Director: Richard Sarafian
Cast: Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, Dean Jagger

Synopsis:

A hot rod driver delivers cars in record time, in spite of run-ins with the State law enforcement. He makes a bet on delivering a 1970 Dodge Challenger from Colorado to San Francisco in 15 hours and, stoked up on benzedrine, he is helped by a blind deejay with police radio scanning equipment.

Review:

Quickly a cult film because of its drug culture, fast and furious action and, above all, burn-out finish, this is just another road movie for petrol heads in which the scenery is of more interest than the characters. (For Newman the role clearly stuck, as the producers of Fear Is the Key (1972) inserted a lengthy and redundant car chases absent from the MacLean book.)
