Vampyros Lesbos (1971)
(Lesbian Vampires)
Country: GER/SP
Technical: col 89m
Director: Jesús Franco
Cast: Soledad Miranda, Dennis Price, Paul Muller, Ewa Strömberg
Synopsis:
An inheritance lawyer plagued with erotic dreams of a mysterious woman is advised to find a new lover by her analyst. She departs Istanbul to resolve a matter for an Hungarian landowner, who is instantly attracted and bites her. Can she be saved before she succumbs to the vampire countess?
Review:
Clearly inspired by the Báthory legend, like many before it, this modernisation is a cynical piece of exploitation by Franco of course. No great shakes in the acting department, it nevertheless achieves an erotically charged atmosphere through deployment of mise-en-scène elements such as colour and décor.
