The Verdict (1982)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 128m
Director: Sidney Lumet
Cast: Paul Newman, James Mason, Charlotte Rampling

Synopsis:

A down-at-heel lawyer is handed a medical malpractice case on a platter, but passes up the opportunity to settle out of court and stakes everything on getting a better verdict for his client.

Review:

Low-key, realistic courtroomer with fine acting opportunities for its cast: Newman's lawyer is perhaps a little too diffident to be true, confounding expectations, and Mason's contribution is a welcome reminder of what screen acting used to be like. Milo O'Shea also does an excellent job as a despicable judge.
