Review:
The first reel or so of this very adult-themed Pixar animation is a montage that goes from childhood to old age through the lives of Carl and Ellie, providing key plot information and establishing the themes of the movie: go for your dreams, children fill a hole in your life, etc. It is a masterpiece of economy and pictures telling it all. Afterwards, with the first flight of the house the spirit soars, but then when it is pulled through the rainforest by Carl (verisimilitude not ever a hallmark of animation, perhaps) the film bogs down a touch. Nevertheless, the dogs are great fun and the airship truly awesome; clearly another triumph and deserving of the Oscar.
