Things to Come (1936)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 113m
Director: William Cameron Menzies
Cast: Raymond Massey, Edward Chapman, Ralph Richardson

Synopsis:

A glimpse into the future predicts a great war followed by primitivism and finally a sterile urban vision of progress leading to the stars.

Review:

Cameron Menzies's designs are the thing here - dramatically it's a bit creaky - but it remains a towering achievement for the British film industry under Korda. The early scenes combining Bliss's music with crisply edited montage of a Blitz-like aerial bombardment are the most impressive, and the most prescient.
