The Skull (1965)
Country: GB
Technical: Techniscope 83m
Director: Freddie Francis
Cast: Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Patrick Wymark, Jill Bennett, Nigel Green
Synopsis:
A collector of occult objects comes into possession of a skull which reveals itself to be that of the Marquis de Sade. Its malign influence is not slow to manifest itself.
Review:
A neat idea from a Robert Block story is given at times risible treatment by Amicus, who commission a screenplay that has nothing to do with the Marquis de Sade and a director who, short of anything horrific to put on film, resorts to positioning the camera inside the skull to imply malign agency.
