The Raven (1963)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 86m
Director: Roger Corman
Cast: Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, Hazel Court

Synopsis:

A meddlesome magician who has been turned into a raven begs Dr Craven, son of the great sorcerer, for help, and informs him that his beloved Lenore still lives, with the man who has bewitched him.

Review:

Price adopts a less doom-laden tone for the first time in the cycle (with the exception of The Black Cat segment), but the attempts at broad humour simply do not work. Court again plays the treacherous siren with buxom relish, Lorre is stridently irritating and Jack Nicholson, somewhat out of place, as cool as a cucumber on acid.
