The Rink (1916)
Country: US
Technical: bw 30m
Director: Charles Chaplin
Cast: Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell
Synopsis:
Rollerskating is all the rage and a wealthy man's daughter determines to hold a party at the local rink, where one of the habitués is an incompetent waiter.
Review:
Misleadingly titled in as much as a good number of the sequences take place at the restaurant (a cocktail-shaking routine which is alone worth the four-star rating), this longer-than-usual short culminates in a delicious piece of marivaudage and features the star at his most jaw-droppingly balletic.
