The Return of the Living Dead (1984)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 90m
Director: Dan O'Bannon
Cast: Clu Gulager, James Karen, Don Calfa

Synopsis:

Mortuary attendants become infected by a virus that turns them into zombies.

Review:

Apart from the more knowing humour, and the titular reference to the films themselves, these zombies are substantially different to Romero's: they move a lot faster, can think and speak, need brains to eat rather than any other organs, and are extremely hard to put down. But the most inspired element is that of having the original two employees dying, developing rigor mortis and turning into zombies while still conscious - a chilling prospect. Incidentally, the word zombie is not used, and a trendy rock soundtrack underscores the general paciness.
