Director: Mark Rydell
Cast: Steve McQueen, Sharon Farrell, Will Geer

Synopsis:

In turn-of-the-century Mississippi, a boy is tricked into taking his grandad's new car on a joy ride to Memphis by the plantation handyman, a 'reiver' named Boon Hogganbeck. In the process the kid learns a thing or two about honour, as well as about 'reiving' (lying, cheating and womanising).

Review:

A gentle, carefully made film, at a time when there weren't so many around, about the first steps to maturity of a young lad, recollected in the tranquility of old age.
