Synopsis:

A railway enthusiast and veteran of the Bangkok to Rangoon prison camps of WW2 is unable to move on from his mistreatment and torture at the hands of the Japanese. When his new wife insists on knowing more about his experiences, his former prisonmate reveals details to her and sets in motion circumstances leading to ultimate vengeance or reconciliation.

Review:

Powerfully acted and moving true story of a radio operator who pays heavily for constructing a receiver in the midst of the Thai jungle. His knowledge of railways is nicely woven into the screenplay, as well as his humanity, and the film flits between its locations, neatly contrasting colour and comfort, while the younger actors provide highly plausible versions of their elder counterparts.
