(Requiem for a Vampire)

Country: FR
Technical: col 95m
Director: Jean Rollin
Cast: Marie-Pierre Castel, Mireille Dargent, Michel Delesalle

Synopsis:

Two girls in flight from a New Year's party turned bloody come upon an abandoned castle, and find themselves prisoners of the vampire and his henchmen and women who live there.

Review:

Risibly poor Euro sex-horror, like something you would make with your mates during the long vacation. Two locations, a castle not so remote we don't see river barges pass below, and a churchyard clearly nowhere in the vicinity, form the ill-defined setting of this micro-budget horror from French master of titillation Rollin. Dialogue is sparing, which is as well since direct sound would seem to be a luxury the production couldn't afford, and there is an awful lot of running about and erotic fumbling. Interiors include a medieval bedchamber obligingly furnished with fur-covered couch, and a crypt suffused with red light to resemble an S&M nightclub. The scene of premature burial has to be seen to be believed for contrivance.
