Que la bête meure (1969)
Country: FR/IT
Technical: col 110m
Director: Claude Chabrol
Cast: Michel Duchaussoy, Caroline Cellier, Jean Yanne
Synopsis:
A bereaved father poses as a screenwriter in order to get closer to the young actress he suspects of being in the car that killed his child.
Review:
Excellent suspense thriller in a familial setting, quite possibly inspired by Shadow of a Doubt in a cockeyed sort of way. Together with Yanne's superb performance it all has the air of a stylised 'conte moral' and is typical of its director's predilections for setting and situations. Maurice Pialat appears at the end as a police inspector.
