The Producers (1967)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 88m
Director: Mel Brooks
Cast: Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, Dick Shawn

Synopsis:

Desperate Broadway producers hit upon the unlikely scheme of launching a show in such poor taste that it will be a flop and they will collect on the insurance.

Review:

Of course the story made no kind of sense but it was an excuse for Brooks to mount his celebrated Springtime for Hitler musical set piece. Aside from that, some enjoyment is to be derived from the frenetic craziness of Mostel and Wilder, but the laughter might not be infectious. Still, it set Brooks off on a career of making parodies, so he must have done something right.
