Profondo Rosso (1975)
(Deep Red)
Country: IT
Technical: col 104m
Director: Dario Argento
Cast: David Hemmings, Daria Nicolodi, Macha Méril
Synopsis:
When a mindreader falls victim to a murderer among his audience, an Englishman picks up the trail, and notices that other murders constantly dog his steps.
Review:
Clunky and oddly tedious thriller from the master of giallo, with the director experimenting in more elaborate mayhem and shock effects, and Hemmings reprising his role in Antonioni's Blow-up. Visually, it is not without interest for fans of this sort of thing: crazy angles abound and much fun is to be had with the doubling associated with split-personality killers (mirrors, prefigured murders, and Oedipal psychology).
