An unusual mixture of Arthuriana and early-middle ages, with Sterling Hayden and Victor McLaglen making not very convincing Dark Age types, and Wagner sporting an unfortunate wig, this is only average Hollywood horse opera. However, it is better than The Black Knight and has a cracking Franz Waxman score.
