Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor/2.35:1 115m
Director: Mike Newell
Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Ronald Pickup, Alfred Molina, Steve Toussaint, Toby Kebbell

Synopsis:

A bastard prince of the realm is framed for the king's murder by his wicked uncle, and he must prove his innocence. At the same time he implicates his fortunes with those of a deposed princess who must restore a sacred dagger to its rightful place of safekeeping before it is used to turn back time and unleash disaster on mankind.

Review:

Sword and fantasy franchise stuff, courtesy of Disney and Bruckheimer, but Pirates of Arabia it ain't: the leads are bland and there is no chemistry between them, and in any case the characters are never allowed to stand solid in a world of special effects and tricksily edited stunt work. Some entertainment is afforded by Molina's mockney charlatan, but he is no replacement for Johnny Depp.
