Police (1985)

£0.00

Country: FR
Technical: col/scope 113m
Director: Maurice Pialat
Cast: Gérard Depardieu, Sophie Marceau, Richard Anconina, Sandrine Bonnaire

Synopsis:

An amoral police detective follows up a drug bust by getting involved with the attractive female defendant and her lawyer's scheme to make off with the ill-gotten gains.

Review:

Pialat as usual concentrates on dialogue and frenetic, unpredictable types, with good actors on hand to deliver his designs. However, he seems to have added precious little to the established 'policier' template, while subtracting a great deal. The results are realistic, but without communicating what makes the so heavily written characters tick. The camera, meanwhile, is permitted to cross the axis of perception as if it didn't matter.
