Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End (2007)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 169m
Director: Gore Verbinski
Cast: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce, Tom Hollander, Stellan Skarsgård, Chow Yun-Fat

Synopsis:

A meeting of the pirate brethren court looks like their only hope against the villainous East India Company, and Barbossa sets out with other characters and the Black Pearl to bring back Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones's locker.

Review:

This third film in the franchise, made back to back with the second, continues the complex series of allegiances and double crosses of its predecessor, in one admirably edited sequence showing how two parallel sets of characters outmanoeuvre their antagonists in cunning. There are a couple of new faces, which add little, and some extraordinary hocus pocus goings on that confirm this as the Indiana Jones of the pirate genre. Despite signs of strain there is sufficient professionalism on display to make this an entertaining if over-extended final chapter (it is to be hoped).
