Country: GB
Technical: bw 84m
Director: Henry Cornelius
Cast: Stanley Holloway, Margaret Rutherford, Basil Radford, Naunton Wayne
Synopsis:
When an exploded UXB reveals Pimlico to be part of the ancestral Duchy of Burgundy the locals respond with defiance to the authorities, setting in motion a series of measures and countermeasures between Whitehall and the plucky, resourceful neo-Burgundians. The popular vote wins the day, as in any good Ealing comedy.
Review:
Ingenious elaboration of an idea to its logical conclusion, with a handful of British character actors at the peak of their form.
