Othello (1965)
Country: GB
Technical: col/scope 166m
Director: Stuart Burge
Cast: Laurence Olivier, Frank Finlay, Maggie Smith
Synopsis:
Jealous of his overlord's affection for another of his lieutenants, Iago seduces Othello with the notion that the latter is the lover of his wife.
Review:
A mesmerising record of a famous National Theatre production. If you can get past Olivier's Idi Amin accent there is electric acting here, and Burge uses the anamorphic aspect ratio to good effect.
