The Moby Dick elements in Jaws are made more explicit in this shameless spin-off. It is pretty well made, and the scene where the whale hunt goes badly wrong is truly horrible, but the exploitative elements of the scenario (Bo Derek losing a leg to the whale while on dry land!), along with the tacky music, too often jar with the intriguing premise and respectably eco message.
