Synopsis:
After meeting during a drunken night's revelry in Seville, a Basque girl drowning her sorrows after being jilted, and a young Andaluz, who follows her home to northern Spain, find themselves playing out an increasingly unlikely ruse to convince her father that he is Basque and that she has not been jilted at all and that the wedding is going ahead.

What is less clear is why, but maybe the subtitling was at fault there. Certainly this is one of those comedies, like Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, which it closely resembles, that plays on linguistic differences and mines much humour from the clash between the fiery, self-determined temperament of the Basque people, and the immoral fecklessness of the Andalusians. It's all a bit loud, heavy-handed and profane, but the performances are fresh enough and locations attractive.
