Nomadland (2020)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 107m
Director: Chloé Zhao
Cast: Frances McDormand, David Strathairn

Synopsis:

When the gypsum works that was her home closes up shop, a widow joins the ranks of America's itinerant workers, who make their home in some van or other.

Review:

Sharing the road with a number of genuine fellow travellers who play themselves, that and the discontinuity in the storytelling, make this akin to watching a documentary at times. The pace is slow, but little by little we come to understand Fern and her decision to roam, although her final leave taking may well betray a decision to mark a new beginning. The film took the top three awards at the Oscars that year, a remarkable achievement for one headed up by women.
