Night Shift (1982)
Country: US
Technical: col 106m
Director: Ron Howard
Cast: Henry Winkler, Michael Keaton, Shelley Long
Synopsis:
Morgue attendants start turning tricks at their place of work, when a pimp turns up dead and his girls need new management. This was not what the pimp's killers had in mind, however.
Review:
An extraordinarily violent and tasteless opening merely leads to a tasteless attempt at comedy, raising nary a smile. The return to the (for Howard) safe waters of Happy Days wish-fulfilment in the closing reel is even more depressing. Winkler not bad, but it's a wonder Keaton turned into a half decent actor on this evidence. As for Howard, he learnt his lesson and rarely approached the genre hereafter.
