The Mummy Returns (2001)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/Panavision 130m
Director: Stephen Sommers
Cast: Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo

Synopsis:

Just over 3000 years B.C., the god Anubis grants the Scorpion King victory over his enemies and then seals him up in his pyramid and legendary oasis. Five thousand years later the descendant of the Egyptian princess who loved Imhotep and a crazed British Museum curator dig up their master and attempt to use the Scorpion King's bracelet to find his resting place and gain power over the armies of the Underworld.

Review:

Utter nonsense, given the same lipsmacking treatment as its predecessor, with handsome production detail and more CGI effects than before. Not especially well written as either straight or tongue-in-cheek entertainment, but a good fairground ride for those content to switch off for a couple of hours.
