The Man from Snowy River (1982)
Country: AUS
Technical: col/scope 104m
Director: George Miller
Cast: Kirk Douglas, Jack Thompson, Sigrid Thornton, Tom Burlinson
Synopsis:
A rogue stallion, seen as the embodiment of the festering hate and mistrust between two brothers, is finally brought down, to the wonder of an orphan boy.
Review:
Pretty faithful opening-out of the Australian poem by A. B. 'Banjo' Paterson. Great photography of magnificent country and a cast which seizes the opportunities offered by this epic tale. Miller perhaps includes one lyrical slow-motion shot too many and the musical backing is disappointingly light for so momentous a tale.
