Mrs. America (2020)
Country: US
Technical: col/16:9 TV Mini Series (9x50m)
Director: Dahvi Waller
Cast: Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Paulson, John Slattery
Synopsis:
In the 1970s, the wife of a Republican senator leads a national campaign against the Equal Rights amendment, and as such makes herself the enemy of Womens Libbers everywhere.
Review:
Blanchett's Phyllis Schlafly is thankfully not the sole focus of this political soap opera: each episode is devoted to the contribution of a different female player in the drama (the above cast list does not do them all justice). The tone is light but the series is an education for the many who did not live through that time, made all the more pertinent by the reversal of the abortion ruling in 2022.
