Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 163m
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Cast: Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales
Synopsis:
Ethan Hunt operates outside the intelligence community to prevent his own rogue directors from gaining possession of a mysterious key to an A.I. virus that has its own agents killing to retrieve it. To do so, he must hold his friends close, and his enemies closer still.
Review:
The franchise goes twin parter, and does not stint fans, with no less than five set pieces, including chases in Rome and Venice and a last act aboard the Orient Express that must itself run for three reels. The plot itself, boasting probably the most palmed McGuffin in history, is less involving than the stealth and dilemmas in which our beloved characters find themselves, Hunt continuing to grapple with his past as the man who gets his female partners killed.
