Synopsis:
A widowed Chinese chef arrives at a remote Finnish settlement with his son, having made a pilgrimage to find the mysterious 'Fongtron'. He befriends the owner of the community diner and imparts the life-enriching delights of Chinese cooking to the locals.
Review:
This hymn to the mingling of cultures could almost have been a joint venture of the Chinese and Finnish tourist boards, so spoilt are we with vast, tranquil landscapes and steaming dishes of nourishment for body and soul. Entertaining the eye and the heart, it is a delightful reminder of how much we can learn from each other and quite rightly ends in union; although as a dramatic dish it is certainly more sweet than sour.
