(An Intimate Affair)

Country: BEL/FR/LUX/SW
Technical: col/scope 82m
Director: Frédéric Fonteyne
Cast: Nathalie Baye, Sergi López

Synopsis:

A couple look back over an extraordinary affair conducted over a period of months in response to an ad, during which personal contact was avoided in favour of open sexual encounters.

Review:

Inevitably the protective crust of this self-serving arrangement begins to flake, and the interest for the viewer lies in seeing how man and woman in their differing ways deal with this encroaching vulnerability. It's written with customary frankness and finesse for a French film, though less of the former and more of the latter than some (Romance, L'Ennui), and acted most affectingly by the leads.
