The Little Foxes (1941)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 116m
Director: William Wyler
Cast: Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall, Teresa Wright, Richard Carlson

Synopsis:

A ruthless, and very rich, southern family exerts its malign influence over those with whom it comes into contact, including its own members: the sickening husband and put-upon daughter in particular see their destinies as pawns in the hands of the matriarch, Regina Giddens.

Review:

Possibly one of the most civilized and honest films to come out of Hollywood's golden era, a fine adaptation of a fine play, marked by career-best performances and excellent staging in depth courtesy of Toland and Wyler. Only the music reminds one of the routine studio product, but otherwise this is gripping adult entertainment.
