The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe 134m
Director: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite, Vince Vaughn, Richard Attenborough, Peter Stormare

Synopsis:

Scientists and trophy hunters converge on the Costa Rican island of Isla Sorna, which happens to have been the breeding ground for the theme park in the first movie.

Review:

Irrelevantly titled, overlong sequel which, far from having anything to do with Conan Doyle, reinstates two of the unused episodes from Crichton's original (the opener and the T-Rex at the waterfall). Felicities are the drolly laconic Goldblum's elevation to leading man status, Postlethwaite's turn as a maniacal version of the Bob Peck character, and the climactic Kong-like unleashing of the monster on an unsuspecting city. But then there's the dreadful Moore character, the obligatory casting of children and the most recently in vogue actors, and the formulaic action and suspense sequences (the approaching tyrannosaurus effect reprised here no less than three times).
