The Lake House (2006)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 105m
Director: Alejandro Agresti
Cast: Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves, Christopher Plummer, Dylan Walsh

Synopsis:

A Chicago hospital doctor leaves the lake house where she has spent a couple of years escaping from the pressures of her job and begins receiving letters from a dashing young architect who has just moved in two years previously...

Review:

The old time-bridging narrative has its fair share of conundrums and of necessity resorts to improvised dialogue scenes via letter in order to bring its stars together on screen. It ends up being a bit of a Sleepless in Seattle in a different dimension, with the go-between this time being a canine, and is not without charm on its own level. It even affords Reeves an opportunity to cry. But on the whole the stars appear ill at ease with the material and fall back on leftover chemistry from Speed to keep the generic engine sparking.
