The Lady Vanishes (1979)
Country: GB
Technical: col/scope 97m
Director: Anthony Page
Cast: Cybill Shepherd, Elliott Gould
Synopsis:
A pretty faithful remake of the Hitchcock classic, with the hotel prologue shortened and the action set closer to the war.
Review:
Greater means are not always a good thing, Panavision being a case in point for a film consisting of two-shots inside train compartments. The Americanization of the leads provides several more wisecracks but somewhat less charm; elsewhere too the film fails to improve on its model, the action being more diffuse.
