Love Story (1970)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 100m
Director: Arthur Hiller
Cast: Ali MacGraw, Ryan O'Neal, Ray Milland, John Marley

Synopsis:

Two students, one in law, the other in music, meet from opposite sides of the tracks in Cambridge MA, and fall in love. Their fathers are uneasy, but then the unthinkable happens.

Review:

A box-office sensation, demonstrating a need perhaps for older, simpler stories, this must have helped balance Paramount's books for years, since it cost next to nothing. The two newcomers' careers were assured, for a time, and Francis Lai's soupy tune was on everybody's lips, or picked out on their pianos. But is it any good still? Has anyone seen it for years? From memory, it's tolerably well made and good for a cry, but seems just a little calculated perhaps.
