Looking for Mr Goodbar (1977)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 136m
Director: Richard Brooks
Cast: Diane Keaton, Tuesday Weld, William Atherton

Synopsis:

A single woman cruises the bars in search of a relationship and meets a serial killer.

Review:

Pandora's Box for the 1970s? At a time when Hollywood was beginning to take artistic risks (Pretty Baby, Coming Home) this was a serious-minded attempt to convey the impossibility of finding love in contemporary America. Unhappily it came too close to appearing to be about the wages of only looking for sex, and attained some notoriety, among feminists at least, as a result. Overlong and at times over-acted, it is worth seeing for Keaton's risk-taking performance. Cf. Cruising for a film of similarly controversial sensationalism.
