Long Shot (2019)

£0.00

Country: US/CAN/COL
Technical: col/2.35:1 125m
Director: Jonathan Levine
Cast: Charlize Theron, Seth Rogen, June Diane Raphael, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Bob Odenkirk

Synopsis:

An unlikely intimacy forms between a female presidential hopeful and her sometime babysitting charge, now an angry, unkempt investigative journalist.

Review:

The political satire only goes so far, with suitably vague Trump and Murdoch avatars, and the detail on the crucial environmental policy is equally nebulous, but for undemanding entertainment in the company of mutually supportive, fun-to-be-around characters this is hard to dislike. Even if you doubt that a glamorous politician would risk everything on a relationship with such a loose cannon, it's good to make believe for a while that affection and integrity might one day guide our leaders. As with her crippled nerd from high school in Young Adult, and other roles before, Theron again enjoys taking chances and playing against type.
