Lolita (1962)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 152m
Director: Stanley Kubrick
Cast: James Mason, Peter Sellers, Sue Lyon, Shelley Winters

Synopsis:

An English literature professor about to take up a post at an American university lodges with and marries a man-hungry spinster because he is aroused by her teenage daughter.

Review:

It is sad and frustrating but at times funny to watch a man's self-abasement for a woman he cannot have, especially when he is intelligent enough to know what is happening to him. Mason gets this over brilliantly and Sellers is worth a look too. The cynical first hour is the best, before Humbert gets in over his head and the repetitive jealous lover stuff takes over.
