Good-looking but very tedious costume divertissement, which perhaps seeks to repeat the scintillating effect of La Ronde. However, structure and wit are absent and neither the widescreen format, in spite of some diligent masking devices, nor Carol's talents as an actress afford us much insight into the character of Lola. (The above may be due in some part to a print which did not reflect the director's intentions: sound, picture and chronology were severally mucked about with by the co-producing countries.)
