Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 102m
Director: Jonathan Dayton, Valerie Faris
Cast: Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Alan Arkin

Synopsis:

An ill-assorted family journeys from Albuquerque to California in a barely roadworthy VW minibus in order to enter the young daughter in a beauty contest. It consists of her profane grandfather, heart-of-gold mother and her English professor brother, fresh from a suicide attempt, and mutely misanthropic brother; the group is driven, in every sense, by the self-made success guru Dad, who is in the throes of patenting his nine-point pyramid path to winnerdom.

Review:

An almost artfully eccentric road movie actually succeeds in beguiling its audience into overlooking its over-determined structures, thanks to a witty script, a tight grip on pacing and a flawless cast, all of whom convince us we are watching real people.
