Lifeboat (1944)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 96m
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Cast: Tallulah Bankhead, Walter Slezak, Henry Hull

Synopsis:

Survivors from a torpedoed ship start to fight amongst themselves when they pull a U-boat sailor out of the water.

Review:

Heavygoing war drama, which certainly observes some of the classical unities, and has some formidable acting presences, but cannot escape the simplistic in its treatment of human psychology under stress, quite apart from its attitude to the enemy. On the other hand, on the evidence of his companions' behaviour, much of what this German says would seem to be true, if it weren't for Bankhead grounding it all.
